Our certified winter canola program — in partnership with Corteva and Chevron — has connected U.S. farmers with exciting opportunities since 2003.
In this program, participating farmers add winter canola to their rotations, which is then used as a renewable feedstock for producing lower-carbon fuels. In return, participants have enjoyed more diversified crop rotations, new revenue streams and improved soil quality through winter canola’s cover crop qualities.
For farmers, the combined expertise and capabilities of Bunge, Corteva and Chevron unlocks opportunity at every step, from planting to harvest to sale.
Now in its third year, this program has proven itself to be a resilient and scalable system for farmers.
The most recent, 2024 crop year averaged 53 bushels per acre,* which is on the high end of the expected range of 45-55 bushels per acre. These consistently high yields have inspired more farmers to participate, and our winter canola acreage is expected to increase significantly for the upcoming crop year.
Additionally, Bunge helps farmers mitigate the risk in adding this crop to their rotations through tools like a Profitability Calculator. We also guide them through logistical needs, like attaining International Sustainability & Carbon Certification (ISCC) so crops can be sold into emerging renewable fuels markets.
By following our program’s recommendations, participating farmers can enjoy an additional revenue stream for their business.
Our team’s dedication makes this program’s growth possible. This summer alone, Bunge team members met with more than 200 farmers across the program’s key growing regions, holding in-person events across four states (Arkansas, Illinois, Kentucky and Tennessee).
As we work each day to connect farmers with consumers, we remain committed to value-added partnerships to bring crop innovation to farmers and sustainable solutions to consumers.
